THE WILD CLASSICAL MUSIC ENSEMBLE is a truly unique band consisting of 4 mentally challenged musicians (Lynh, Johan, Rudy and Kim) and their ‘conductor’ Damien Magnette. They bring a challenging mix of punk, noise and free music. Something totally different than the well known dutch orchestra Josti-band. The project started in November 2007, thanks to the social-artistic association vzw WIT.h. (www.vzwwith.org) The 4 artists all work in different fine art media in the “de zandberg” studio (www.artotheek.be) and show a desire and talent for making music…. So that's how it all began.

Since the beginning the WCME's musical research has been based on free improvisation, sound and object experimentations. The WCME has also tried to develop a knowledge and control of its musical energy in order to organize and construct within the Spontaneity. That’s what led them to developing orchestration symbols and experimentation around musical notations.

The WCME has recently started integrating punk/rock riffs, composed by Kim Verbeke, the band's guitarist. These new melodico-rythmic bases gave a new impulse to the band and let to what it has become: a mix of rock, punk, noise, and free music.

CASSIS CORNUTA will surprise us this evening with a performance, soundscape or lecture. But probably all in one.

CASSIS CORNUTA has been combining musique concrète, analog synthesizer carpets, weirdo acid, noise, fieldrecordings, tape music, free jazz etc since 1974 in a puddle of madness spiced with odd staring, dozens of plants (cacti to be more specific), a encyclopedic knowledge about soundart, and an insane collection of hats!

Besides that he does a weekly radioshow on Radio Centraal in Antwerp for the past 25 years, mainly playing a combination of recycled music, home recordings and a hell lot of noise!
